I’m thrilled to introduce Norma Jean’s Train Case PDF pattern, I just love it! She’s reminiscent of days gone by, I can almost see Norma Jean carrying her train case to the station.
This train case PDF pattern offers lots of options. It can be made with a single zippered compartment. It’s very roomy yet doesn’t take up a lot of space in your suitcase. It measures 9″W x 5.75″H x 7″D. There’s either a mesh pocket or a zipper pocket for inside the top.

Version two has two separate zippered compartments to hold even more necessities. It measures 9″W x 7″H x 7″D. And you can have both the mesh pocket and the zipper pocket on the inside.
And one more option is that this case, either the single or double compartment case, can be made shorter, if you like. The pattern includes instructions for doing that, and for that matter it can be made taller too!

Norma Jean’s Train Case is intended to be made with foam stabilizer to create a firm but soft body that maintains its shape. However, it can be made with fusible fleece for a less firm case.
The train case pictured above was made using a medium duty domestic sewing machine with a walking foot attachment and heavy duty jeans needle. These are the basic things I recommend as a starting point. I also suggest putting your machine to the test to see if it can handle several thicknesses of fabric/stabilizer combinations.
Foam stabilizer has become my new favorite for making bags and baskets. Check out my free set of 3 fabric buckets pattern for another way to use foam stabilizer.
You can find Norma Jean’s Train Case PDF pattern in my Etsy shop along with lots of other patterns. I hope you will try it out, you’ll love it for your next trip.
Please have a look at all our tester’s cases. We appreciate them so much for helping us bring this great pattern to you. You will note that some of our creative testers used a different handle than what is included. The instructions detail how to add a fabric handle, but you can choose to customize yours differently. Some of our testers used a foam stabilizer while some used fleece. Some used double pull zippers and some used single pull zippers.

Purchase your Norma Jeans train Case Pattern. Could not print a readable print of page4 Pattern Assembly. Is there something I need to do to be able to get a clearer picture. Thanks Judy
Hi there,
I will send that to your email address.
Thanks!
Please could you tell me if it would be possible to make this with 3 compartments? I’ve been searching for what she wants and this is almost it. It’s for some delicate sports equipment that needs to be separate and padded.
Hi there,
Let me give that some thought and I’ll get back to you.
Thanks!
